One of America’s preeminent storytellers, Xochitl Gonzalez is a bestselling author, prolific journalist, screenwriter and producer.

Gonzalez is the New York Times bestselling author of the award-winning novel Olga Dies Dreaming, the Reese’s Book Club Pick Anita de Monte Laughs Last, and USA Today national bestseller Last Night in Brooklyn. Her first non-fiction book, Need Blind: A Memoir of Class and Climbing in America, is forthcoming from Flatiron Books.

A contributor to The Atlantic, she was recognized as a 2023 Pulitzer Prize finalist in Commentary. She is a 2026 TED Democracy Speaker and Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Resident.

A native Brooklynite and proud public school graduate, Gonzalez holds a BA from Brown University and an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and is a trustee of the corporation of Brown University and the Brooklyn Public Library.
